Retirement – what next?

Andrew

Recently we have worked with several individuals and couples in their 60s. Life can have major transition points i.e. a new job, moving in together, illness, trauma, having kids, the kids leaving home and retiring. These often throw into question our identity and purpose as roles that we perhaps over identified and over-invested in end or change. Coming to truly know, understand and accept yourself and those around you helps you to handle such transitions with grace and without such a sense of loss or fear of the unknown.

Studies have repeatedly shown that mortality rates go up in connection with retirement and early retirement. The study showed that for every extra year of early retirement, workers lost about two months of life expectancy. So rather than worrying about your retirement, why not make plans based on knowing yourself – what makes you tick, what motivates you, what makes you happy and healthy?

Helping individuals and couples to find their ‘mojo’ and create new and joint purposes is what we do as part of our Breakthrough Experiences – where we explore who you are and give you amazing new insights into yourself. It is never too late to learn and enjoy a new lease of life. Don’t you deserve that?

Check out our Solutions For Individuals, Couples & Families page for more information and links to how we can help you to know yourself and Connect To Your Potential, whatever your age, stage or circumstances.

Level 5 Leadership

Andrew

I am currently reading ‘Good To Great’ by Jim Collins, a book about what makes a truly and sustainably ‘great’ company.

I love that this book is based on in-depth and holistic research, not opinion. The research didn’t set out to prove any point, rather to unearth the true generic success factors, whatever they may be.

One of the key factors the research team identified is what they have called Level 5 Leaders. These leaders invest in people, build talented teams, move people into optimum roles and empower others. Level 5 leaders are: largely free of ego, are often recruited from within the company, are not threatened by the success of others and don’t claim the glory for themselves.

“Level 5 leaders channel their ego needs away from themselves and into the larger goal of building a great company’.

What is fascinating, is that they study compared these truly ‘great’ companies, ones that out-performed the stock market by a factor of 7 (700%) over a 15 year period, as compared to a peer group of ‘direct comparison’ companies. Whilst those direct comparison companies may have had periods of great success, it was not sustainable. Much of this was attributable to leadership style. Read More →

The Stats on Wellbeing & Potential

Andrew

Repeated studies of wellbeing  have shown that less than one in five of us (17%) live in a regular state of ‘flourishing’ wellbeing, a place from which living to our potential becomes entirely possible and likely. Conversely, nearly a third of us are struggling with our emotional wellness either ‘languishing’ on the brink of more serious mental health issues (11%) or having been diagnosed e.g. often with depression, anxiety or stress (18%). The rest of us (54%) have what the psychologists describe as ‘moderate’ levels of wellbeing, which typically means we have our good days and not so good days/situations/moments/relationships….

Whether you are experiencing flourishing, moderate or lower levels of wellbeing, these are in fact ‘states’ on a scale. We can slide up and down this scale quite rapidly. If you don’t believe me, just go and watch a video of something that makes you happy, angry or sad – our moods can quickly alter and be influenced.

It is not the same for each of us. We react in different ways. Some of us are more emotional, so can experience higher highs and lower lows. Studies and shown that we all have a different ‘set-point’ for happiness. These are all elements of what some refer to as our character.

Whatever our character, we can all influence where we are on this spectrum of wellbeing. Read More →

The most empowering question you can ask yourself – Who am I?

Andrew

Wouldn’t it be wonderful if you could understand yourself in a brand new light?

By this I mean be able to understand the different triggers that cause you to respond to life in the way you do, to know and be able to recognise what takes your energy up, what takes you down, what motivates you, and to be able to instantly recognise when your ego is responding to life rather than the real you? And wouldn’t it be wonderful to really connect with your inherent talents and to not only believe you have those talents, but to truly, deeply know? You see, there’s a world of difference between believing something and actually knowing it. This brings true self-empowerment.

And wouldn’t it be wonderful to be able to understand others, especially those closest to you, in the same light too?

Well… did you know that there are 9 different perceptions of life, 9 different drives and models of the world, and that each of us experiences life through one of them? Here are just some examples of how they all differ from one another: Read More →

Your Potential

Andrew

What Would You Like to Achieve?

Over the last 10 years we have developed a comprehensive, holistic and world-class personal development methodology.

In a nutshell, the best phrase to describe what we deliver is mentoring in ‘Emotional Intelligence‘. This is the kind of intelligence that is sadly lacking in today’s education and awareness.  A lack of emotional intelligence causes great challenges in our personal lives and in our relationship with ourselves and others. Conversely, a well developed emotional intelligence is at the heart of peace, contentment and love, as well as great leadership, teamwork and success in so many areas of life – especially relationships.

Milton Erickson, one of the first great experts on our sub-conscious, noted that

People only have problems because they are out of rapport with their unconscious minds.

Today, far too many of us struggle with stress, anxiety, depression, a lack of purpose and ultimately, stagnation. Probably the largest factor in all of this is a lack of self-awareness and a misalignment between what we think and do, versus who we truly are. Our work, and hence our brand name, is to connect you with your true potential and in so doing, bring you into rapport with your sub-conscious. Read More →

Uncovering The Ego

Andrew

We have always specialised in working with people and their egos, be it fears, limiting beliefs, attention seeking….. Seven years ago, we started to investigate the Enneagram a model and transformational system based on nine egotypes. Whilst fascinating, we found that the online tests that were available we inconclusive and contradictory; indeed many practitioners did not use or rely on them and fully expected it to take many months and many sessions to try to workout someone’s ego type.  The benefits from understanding and overcoming the ego are immense. This is at the heart of emotional intelligence, which in turn is at the heart of great leadership, relationships, emotional wellbeing, resilience to mental health challenges, the list goes on.

Over the last five years, we have studied the Enneagram in-depth. After being mis-typed so many times, we finally learned our true Enneatypes, which had a massive positive impact on our relationship. In truth, despite years of personal development and starting to feel ‘sorted’, learning the truth of the Enneagram enabled us to finally understand and accept ourselves and each other. Read More →

Community Empowerment Programme

Andrew

We had the pleasure and privilege of delivering a 10 week Empowerment programme for 30 amazing ladies from Saheli, a Muslim Community Group in Birmingham. Over the 10 half days sessions, the ladies learned lots of new skills and insights that allowed them to step into their abilities and individuality. The raised energy levels became infectious and rippled into families and the community. Amazingly, we all learned together how our personal development insights enabled the ladies to better practise their faith and live to their values.

It truly was an empowering experience, one which delivered lasting results and impact throughout their community. This Community Empowerment was summed up well by one of many testimonials:

This course is not your run of the mill ‘add a layer of positivity to your life’ that many empowering courses do. It is genuinely about unleashing the potential of individuals in line with their deeply held values – a powerful tool to bring individual and societal transformation!

You can see the fantastic video feedback and lots more written testimonials here. If you are involved in a community or third sector organisation and would like to empower the community and those providing support and services to it then contact us for a no obligation discussion of how we can help.
